Tour the Firmenich Newark Facility
Firmenich is the world’s largest privately-owned company in the fragrance and flavor business. Founded in 1895 and headquartered in Geneva, Switzerland, Firmenich has created many of the world’s best known perfumes and flavors enjoyed by billions of consumers each day. They manufacture encapsulated flavors for the beverages, savory and sweet foods industries, and ingredients for the fine fragrance, body care and home care industries.
Firmenich operates in three business divisions: Ingredients, Fragrances, and Flavors with 25 manufacturing sites, 6 in the U.S. (two in New Jersey, one in Florida, California, Minnesota and Missouri) and 63 facilities located throughout the world. They are an active sub-zone operator in NJ operating under Foreign Trade Zone 49 .
Important InformationTour Requirements:
1. Long pants, long sleeves, and close-toe flat-heel shoes are required.
2. Personal protection equipment will be provided on the tour.
3. Cell phones, pagers, cameras, and electronic devices are prohibited, along with handbags and other items (will have a place to store on-site or keep them in your car).
Programmed Tour Schedule:
8:30 a.m. - Registration/Networking with continental breakfast provided by Firmenich
9:00 a.m. - Welcome and Overview of Firmenich
9:30 a.m. - Tour of Ingredient Plant that supplies the perfume and fine fragrance industry
10:00 a.m. - FTZ overview and possible smell/taste testing will be given to group that is not on the tour
The registration list will be provided to Firmenich before the event for review and for security. All registrants must identify their company/organization affiliation.Because of anticipated traffic in port areas and on Firmenich Way, please assume additional travel time to this location.

Q: Firmenich, Inc. manufacture fragrances, does the protection equipment offered on-site serve to protect individual that may be allergic to the substances used in a manufacturing environment?
A: No, the safety equipment offered for the tour is a hard hat and safety glasses. The product is contained in tankers and drums. There is a perfume smell on the site, so if an individual is particularly allergic they might want to take that into consideration. Firmenich host many tours and - to date - have not had an issue with anyone having an allergic reaction.
